Formula & assumptions
Apply a second percentage discount to the already discounted price, rather than adding percentages. In reverse mode, enter a sale price to find the total discount relative to the original; the additional-discount field is unused. Amounts are shown to two decimals, with intermediate arithmetic kept unrounded. Merchant rounding, shipping and tax may change a checkout total.
Worked example
20% off 100 followed by another 10% off gives 100 × 0.8 × 0.9 = 72, a total saving of 28%. It is not a 30% discount.

Frequently asked questions
Are two 50% discounts free?
No. The final price is 25% of the original, which is a 75% total discount.
Can I calculate a free item?
Yes. A 100% discount or a sale price of zero is supported. The original price must be positive.
Is tax included?
No. This calculates the merchandise price only. Tax and shipping depend on the transaction.
