How the countdown works
The timer sets a finish timestamp and recalculates the difference at each update, rather than subtracting one second per callback. After a delayed update it catches up to the device clock. Pause preserves the remaining time; resume sets a new finish time, and restart uses the original duration. The maximum duration is 24 hours.
A practical example
Start a five-minute timer at 14:00:00 and it ends at 14:05:00. Pause after two minutes and three minutes remain. Resume at 14:10:00 and the new finish time is 14:13:00.

Frequently asked questions
Will an alarm work if I close or lock the screen?
Closing or reloading the page stops the timer. Background tabs, device sleep and lock screens can delay updates or audio. Keep the page visible, test the sound and use a device alarm for important deadlines. The optional screen-awake setting works only where the browser allows it.
Are my presets saved or sent anywhere?
Only pressing Save stores up to eight preset labels and durations, or alarm clock times and zones, in this browser on this device. Target dates, clock correction and active timer state are not saved. Remove individual entries or clear this tool’s presets to delete them. No account or server receives them.
Why is there no sound?
Test sound before relying on it, check volume and tab muting, and keep the page open. Browser audio policies can block playback. The completion message, optional page popup and tab title also change when the timer finishes. Enable System notifications for alerts while using another app; permission and OS settings are required. Closing the page stops scheduled alerts.
