01 · UNDERSTAND

Formula & assumptions

Estimated target amount = source amount × rate × (1 − percentage fee/100)

When you calculate in latest-rate mode, the browser requests the selected currency pair from Frankfurter using ECB reference data. The entered amount and fee are not sent with that request. The result displays the rate’s date and source; rates are daily references, not live executable quotes. Manual mode works without a network request. Banks and card issuers may apply a spread, fixed charge or another rate.

Worked example

EXAMPLE

With a manually entered rate of 1.10 target units per source unit, 100 becomes 110 before fees. A 2% proportional fee leaves 107.80. This example rate is illustrative and does not represent today’s market.

Frequently asked questions

Is the rate live?

No. ECB reference rates are normally published on working days. Weekends and holidays can show the previous published date.

What happens if the rate service is unavailable?

An error is shown and no old result is presented as fresh. You can retry or switch to manual mode and enter your own rate.

Is the result what my bank will pay?

No. Reference rates differ from bank buy/sell quotes. Only the entered percentage fee is modeled; fixed charges and spreads are excluded.
