Formula & assumptions
Use the grade points published by your institution rather than guessing how a letter grade converts. Choose a 4.0, 4.3 or 5.0 maximum, then enter up to five courses and their credit values. The selected scale validates your inputs; it does not convert an existing GPA between systems. Credits may be fractional, and zero-credit rows are excluded.
Worked example
Three 3-credit courses with grade points 4, 3 and 2 earn 27 quality points over 9 credits, producing a GPA of 3.00.
How to use this calculator
- Find your school’s grade-point and course-credit rules.
- Select the matching maximum scale and enter each course.
- Use 0 credits for unused rows or courses that your school excludes from GPA.
Frequently asked questions

No. Letter mappings and weighted honors grades vary. Enter your institution’s numeric grade points.
Are repeated courses automatically replaced?

Can I convert a 4.0 GPA to a 5.0 GPA?
Changing the selected scale does not perform an official conversion. Such equivalences depend on the institution.
